Scientists are predicting that 3 years from now, all life on Earth could well come to an end. Truth? Who does know?
Some are saying it'll be humans that would set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. The religious people are saying it'll be God himself who would press the stop button.
All started because Maya’s calendar is stopping on 2012 and because other theories making as to think of an end. Here some of them to learn why the world would end by the year 2012.Reason one: Mayan calendar Mayans were good at two things -- building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and sacrificing virgins. Ok ok Im kidding… They have had a great civilization, high technology knowledge, they were great mathematicians and have an astronomical background. Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out.
The Mayan calendar predicts that the earth will end on December 21, 2012. On that day the “cycle of the Big Measurement” is finishing. They said that that day the sun will be in a line with the centre of our Galaxy for the first time the last 26000 years. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well. Reason two: Sun storms Solar scientists, monitoring the sun, have made a startling discovery. Our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the earth with lot of radiation energy. It's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012.
But that activity isn’t unknown because it follows a 10 year cycle and we have afforded many storms like them .Reason three: The atom smasher Scientists in Europe have been building the world's largest particle accelerator. Basically, it’s a 27 km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it's properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They're predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball. Reason four: The Bible says it If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn't bad enough, religious people are sure it will come soon. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between good an evil, has been set for 2012.
I Ching also, known as the Chinese Book of Changes, says the same thing that on that day December 21st evil has to give the final battle against good.
Reason five: Super volcano Yellowstone National Park in United States is famous for its thermal springs and old faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple : it's sitting on top of the world's biggest volcano. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang but still now they haven’t any special activity
Reason six: The physicists This one's case of bog simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berkely University have been crunching the numbers. They've determined that the earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they're claiming that their calculations prove that we're all going to die, very soon. They are also saying that their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 per cent; and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs. Reason seven: Earth's magnetic field We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that shields us from most of the sun's radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call North and South have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so -- and right now we're about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30 kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is under way, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches. But many other scientists said that in case like that earth wont be unprotected and the magnetic field around will became more complex to protect life on earth’s surface.
All these remind us that humanity was waiting its end during 2000 . Millions have been spend for protection that year but nothing happened.. even the simple computer viruses attract they were waiting.
In History we have examples of countries or communities which have been self destroyed..
Maybe this it the worst fear of the humanity. We understand that we are in a high level (talking about technology) but we have forgotten the real values of life. Civilization in Easter’s Island is a good example that a community can be destroyed by itself.
The fear of a disaster is always a bad advisor and maybe leads us in wrong decisions. There aren’t only the waste of money which can occurs but the mass sacrifices which can happen as that which happened in Heaven’s gate because of the fear of Millennium. Τα ημερολόγια των Μάγια τελειώνουν σε 4 χρόνια. Αμερικανοί επιστήμονες πιστεύουν ότι αυτό είναι το τέλος της γης.
Μόλις σε 4 χρόνια θα έρθει η συντέλεια του κόσμου, σύμφωνα με όσα προφητεύει ο Λόρενς Ε. Τζόζεφ, Αμερικανός φυσικός και συγγραφέας του βιβλίου Apocalypse 2012. Η πεποίθηση αυτή βασίζεται στο ημερολόγιο των Μάγια, του προκολομβιανού λαού που άκμασε στην Κεντρική Αμερική από το 1800 π.Χ. ως το 1450 μ.Χ. Σύμφωνα με τους Μάγια στις 20 Δεκεμβρίου 2012 ολοκληρώνεται ο κύκλος της Μεγάλης Μέτρησης. Την επόμενη ακριβώς ημέρα είναι το χειμερινό ηλιοστάσιο και ο Ήλιος θα είναι ευθυγραμμισμένος με το κέντρο του Γαλαξία για πρώτη φορά μετά από 26.000 χρόνια...
Παράλληλα είναι γνωστό ότι περίπου αυτή την περίοδο θα έχουμε ηλιακές καταιγίδες, σε έξαρση, οι καθώς η ηλιακή δραστηριότητα ακολουθεί έναν κύκλο ενδεκαετούς διάρκειας (το τελευταίο αποκορύφωμα σημειώθηκε γύρω στο 2000). Σε μια περίοδο μέγιστης δραστηριότητας απελευθερώνονται σωματίδια που ταξιδεύουν στο διάστημα και μπορούν να βλάψουν τους δορυφόρους και τα άλλα ηλεκτρονικά όργανα αλλά όχι τον άνθρωπο.
Ευθυγραμμίσεις και ηλεκτρομαγνητικές καταιγίδες δεν είναι επικίνδυνες και οι επιστήμονες παρατηρούν συνεχώς τέτοια φαινόμενα. Το 2002, 5 πλανήτες ευθυγραμμίστηκαν σε ένα τόξο 33ο χωρίς καμιά συνέπεια στο σύμπαν. Οι Μάγια υπήρξαν ένας από τους πιο μυστηριώδεις λαούς, με ανώτερες ικανότητες στα μαθηματικά και την αστρονομία αλλά δεν γνωρίζουμε τι σημαίνει το τέλος του ημερολογίου τους. Χρησιμοποιούσαν διάφορα ημερολόγια, και κατά τον μελετητή τους Κιθ Προύφερ, το τέλος του κύκλου της Μεγάλης Μέτρησης, που ερχόταν κάθε 5.125 χρόνια, δε σημαίνει ότι καταφτάνει η συντέλεια του κόσμου.

Μια άλλη θεωρία τους είναι ότι θα μπορούσε να δραστηριοποιηθεί το υπερ-ηφαίστειο του Γέλοουστοουν στις ΗΠΑ, που εκρήγνυται με καταστροφικό τρόπο κάθε 6-700 χιλιάδες χρόνια. Όμως οι γεωλόγοι που το παρατηρούν δεν προβλέπουν τίποτα ανησυχητικό για την επόμενη δεκαετία.
Γενικώς οι επιστήμονες αντικρούουν τέτοια γεγονότα. Όμως ο φόβος ότι μια κοσμική καταστροφή θα πλήξει τη Γη το 2012 έχει πολλούς υποστηρικτές εκτός από τον Τζόζεφ. Κάποιοι θυμήθηκαν τις προφητείες του Νοστράδαμου (1503-1566). Όμως ο Νοστράδαμος είχε προβλέψει το τέλος του κόσμου πολλές φορές κατά τους περασμένους αιώνες και στα έργα του δεν υπάρχει καμία αναφορά στο 2012.
Μια πιο «επιστημονική» θεωρία συντέλειας είναι η θεωρία του Ολντουβάι, που διατυπώθηκε το 1989 από το μηχανικό Ρίτσαρντ Ντάνκαν, με βάση τα παγκόσμια στοιχεία για την ενέργεια και τον πληθυσμό. Η θεωρία πήρε το όνομά της από το φαράγγι του Ολντουβάι στην Τανζανία και αποτελεί μια αλληγορία για την εποχή του λίθου, όπου ίσως επιστρέψουμε σύντομα. Ο Ντάνκαν εκτιμά πως η ανθρωπότητα θα αρχίζει να παρακμάζει από το 2012
Μια άλλη θεωρία έχει να κάνει με τον φόβο ο οποίος μπορεί να καταστρέψει κοινωνίες χωρίς ουσιαστική αιτία. Ακραίο παράδειγμα η αίρεση Heaven's Gate. Το 1997, 39 μέλη της αυτοκτόνησαν, ελπίζοντας να φτάσουν σε ένα «ανώτερο επίπεδο» πριν το τέλος του κόσμου. Ο φόβος μιας καταστροφής, μπορεί να έχει βαθιές πολιτικές και κοινωνικές συνέπειες, ιδίως αν τη συμμερίζονται άτομα που κατέχουν θέσεις ισχύος. Αν αφήνουμε τον εαυτό μας να επηρεάζεται από την καταστροφολογική σκέψη σημαίνει ότι δεν κάνουμε τίποτα για να προλάβουμε μια επικείμενη καταστροφή, περιμένοντας το αναπόφευκτο τέλος.
Ο φόβος αλλά και η αλόγιστη χρήση των φυσικών πόρων, η εκμετάλλευση ανθρώπων και περιβάλλοντος μπορεί να οδηγήσει σε καταστροφή και όπως έγινε με τον πολιτισμό στην Νήσο του Πάσχα. Η Νήσος του Πάσχα είναι το τέλειο παράδειγμα της κοινωνίας που αυτοκαταστρέφεται, γιατί εκμεταλλεύτηκε υπερβολικά το περιβάλλον. Χάρη στην παγκοσμιοποίηση, όλες οι χώρες της Γης μοιράζονται σήμερα τους ίδιους πόρους και αλληλοεπηρεάζονται, όπως έκαναν οι φυλές στη Νήσο του Πάσχα. Αυτό το νησί ήταν απόλυτα απομονωμένο. Όταν οι κάτοικοι του νησιού άρχισαν να αντιμετωπίζουν δυσκολίες, δεν υπήρχε άλλο μέρος για να πάνε ούτε κάποιος δίπλα τους που θα μπορούσε να τους βοηθήσει. Το ίδιο μπορεί να συμβεί και σε εμάς, στη Γη. Η κατάρρευση της κοινωνίας της Νήσου του Πάσχα είναι ένα παράδειγμα, η χειρότερη εικασία για αυτό που μπορεί να μας επιφυλάσσει το μέλλον.
Όλα αυτά δημιουργούν ένα κλίμα αναμονής για το 2012, που θυμίζει πολύ αυτό που είχε δημιουργηθεί την παραμονή του 2000. Τότε, ξοδεύτηκαν σε όλο τον κόσμο περίπου 300 δις δολάρια για επεμβάσεις στα συστήματα πληροφορικής ώστε να αποφευχθεί το millennium bug, ο ιός που θα αχρήστευε όλα τα ηλεκτρονικά συστήματα στον πλανήτη και ο οποίος μάλλον χάθηκε στο διάστημα... Αλλά το Χόλυγουντ τρίβει τα χέρια του με χαρά γιατί η ταινία με την επερχόμενη καταστροφή είναι ήδη έτοιμη και οδεύει προς τους κινηματογράφους με σίγουρη επιτυχία…
